The Physical Education Department

The Wellness/Fitness Mission Statement
The Physical Education Department is committed to the development of the whole person. This is shown by the presence of the Wellness/Fitness Unit in all physical education courses. The Wellness/Fitness Unit instructs the students in the following five dimensions (Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Social Dimensions) which supports The College of Saint Rose Mission Statement and Institutional Goals and Statement of Values.

The Physical Education program is directed to the twin goals of lifetime fitness and wellness through lifetime physical activity. A wide range of sports and activity courses are available to enhance the wellbeing of the learner. Students can develop and implement their own personal wellness/ fitness program with regard to exercise, relaxation, nutrition and wellness principles. A total of four credit hours in physical education may be applied to the total number of credit hours required for graduation

To fulfill the College's liberal education requirements, two credits are required in wellness and physical fitness. A student must demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the importance of physical care, development, and wellness, and engage in wellness and physical fitness activity.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. ~Dr. Seuss
Here at The College of Saint Rose not only do we care for our student's fitness and well being but also those of the young children in the Capital Region. We offer several services that make our College students engage with young children to pass on the education they have learned. We hope that we can build a healthy environment together. These services are:
