“Sculptors Recollected: Francis Cape, James O. Clark, Judy Pfaff,” the Esther Massry Gallery, 1002 Madison Avenue, Albany. Three renowned sculptors who presented solo shows in the former Picotte Hall gallery (Cape, 2000; Clark, 1994; Pfaff, 1990) return to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the gallery. Pfaff held the 2008 inaugural exhibition of the gallery. The gallery is closed for Thanksgiving, November 21 to 25. Open for 1st Friday, December 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. See daily hours on the gallery website.

Today, they are professionals in health care, financial services, education, and technology. But they will always be the NCAA Division II women’s soccer champions.

Last month, members of the team, which clenched the title in 2011, returned to the College to celebrate their induction into the Northeast-10 Hall of Fame with coach Laurie Darling Gutheil.

The 2011 Golden Knights team is the only team national championship in Saint Rose history. The other national champion is an individual, Brandon Birchak, who won one- and three-meter diving events at the 2007 NCAA Division II Championships.

Brian Beaury, head men’s basketball coach, has retired after being associated with Saint Rose as a head coach, assistant coach, and student throughout four decades. He missed both the 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons due to medical reasons. Assistant coach Mike Perno has been named interim head coach.

A member of three Halls of Fame, Beaury compiled a 643-226 (.664) career record and became just the ninth active NCAA Division II head coach to reach the 600-win plateau two years ago. His Saint Rose teams excelled in the classroom as well. The Golden Knights earned the Northeast-10 Conference Team Academic Award for having the highest overall GPA among the conference’s 15 institutions in three of the past four years. They also garnered Team Academic Awards from the National Association of Basketball Coaches in five of the past six seasons.

Beaury garnered Coach of the Year plaudits on five separate occasions. Two years ago, he was named the NABC East District Coach of the Year and was recognized with the Athletics Leadership Award by the Academy for Character Education at The Sage Colleges. He was among the nation’s top-10 most successful NCAA Division II active coaches in terms of victories entering this season. Additionally, his teams qualified for postseason play in 31 of his 32 seasons and won eight conference titles.

Beaury earned both his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his master’s in education from Saint Rose.

On Friday, October 12, we celebrated five new inductees to our Athletics Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Massry Center for the Arts as part of HOME.COMING & Family Weekend.

The honored former Golden Knights were: Josh Colafemina, baseball; Caryn Coughtry, softball; Steve Dagostino, basketball; Chris Deubel, basketball; and Kailey Egbert, soccer.
