13th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition February 15–March 15WelcomeThe College art gallery was established in 1970. In 1978, it was relocated downtown to Picotte Hall, the Center for Art and Design, 324 State Street, in historic Center Square where it remained for 30 years. The gallery moved back to campus in the Fall 2008, and is housed in the Massry Center for the Arts. The Esther Massry Gallery is a spacious, 2,200 sq. ft. space with an open floor plan and state of the art lighting. Its unique “Vertical Gallery” features large windows facing north and a 27 ft. high ceiling with the capacity to suspend 3,000 lbs. The new location offers prime visibility on Madison Avenue which connects the Pine Hills neighborhood with Albany’s Historic Center Square.

Teaching and Exhibiting Contemporary ArtThe Esther Massry Gallery is a teaching facility that presents contemporary art and culture through its exhibition and visiting artist programs. It provides curriculum support for the art department and invites participation by the greater College community. The gallery is a learning laboratory that serves as a window into the College as an important cultural resource for New York's Capital Region. It is a member of the American Association of Museums, the Exhibit Alliance and Museum Association of New York.
Each academic year, recognized visiting artists at various career levels present exhibitions, lectures, panel discussions, meet with students and provide individual critiques. Gallery receptions provide opportunities for discourse between artists, faculty, students and members of the community.
Gallery Management classes present opportunities for involved students to earn credit and learn, and go on to internships and employment in the field. Work Study staff positions allow students to hold employment in the gallery. Graphic Design students work collaboratively with the director to produce professional publicity materials and signage for exhibitions and events.
