Blackboard

Blackboard, St. Rose's course management system, is available to instructors who are interested in online teaching and learning, either to enhance a campus-based course or to create a course entirely online. Blackboard offers a rich variety of tools for posting materials online and facilitating interaction with and among students.

The old interface has definitely changed with the upgrade to Bb9; here are some quick survival tips:

  • You can add a new content area by clicking on the big plus at the top of the course menu and do other edits by clicking the small gray triangle at the right of each menu item. 
  • Click on any menu item to get into that area, then use the large blue buttons at the top of the main display area to add the particulars you want. 
  • Once you have items or folders in place, click the tiny triangle at the right of each one to see your various editing options. 
  • Whenever you have questions about doing things in Bb, call or email me.

Reminder: If you're using Bb for the Fall semester, don't forget to make your course Available to your students:

  • On your Control Panel at the lower left, click Customization. 
  • Click Properties. 
  • In area #3 for Availability, click Yes. 
  • Be sure to Submit (either top or bottom).

Available Trainings

Tech. Tuesdays
Every Tuesday you can pop in to the training room in the basement of Saint Joseph between 9am-3pm for help and guidance with Blackboard, Microsoft Office, iWebfolio and the Website Content Management System (glyph).
