Looking for some academic support? Great news! Fall Tutoring officially starts tomorrow, September 11. On-campus and online options are available. The best way to see what’s available is to check the Navigate app (which, btw, you should have installed on your phone! Go do that now!). More information and tutoring hours can be found here on their website.

Introducing…the Health Humanities minor! Saint Rose’s newest minor emphasizes critical thinking, ethical development, and social justice alongside professional and career-oriented skills for students pursuing (or considering) careers in health, medicine, other caring professions, and/or administrative positions in those fields. Whereas medical humanities programs often emphasize medical practices and medical care, a health humanities approach highlights ongoing questions related to what states of “health” or “sickness” involve, situating them within their broader social and cultural contexts. This minor is complimentary to an array of majors and programs and requires 20 credit hours. If you’re interested or have any questions, please contact Emma Bedor Hilland at bedore@strose.edu.

Get ready for a splash-tastic day of aquatic fun! Yeah, that’s right – the Saint Rose Pool’s amateur diving competition is back and they want YOU to participate! Join them on Friday, September 15 at 6 p.m. for an evening of belly-flopping, splashing, and laughter at the Saint Rose Pool, located in the EAC. This event is all about celebrating the spirit of adventure in the water. Whether you’re a beginner, an expert, or just want to show off your cannonball skills, this is your chance to shine.

Celebrate Constitution Day with BOLDness! Join our Junior BOLD Scholars this Wednesday, September 13, from noon to 3 p.m. for a Constitution Day Celebration. They’ll be there to help you register to vote, plus there’ll be a chance to enter a raffle for cool prizes! Look for their table outside Camelot in the EAC. Remember, your vote and voice matter!

Add wellness to your Wednesdays with Therapeutic Touch: What is it? Therapeutic Touch, or T.T., is a type of energy work that re-balances your system. Basically, it’s a type of self-care for your whole being! Join the Office of Spiritual Life every Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. upstairs in the Sanctuary. Each T.T. session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. BTW, there’s no physical touch involved! Sign up for a T.T. session here.

Join our E-Sports team 🎮 Tryouts for Saint Rose’s Esports team are this week! If you think you have what it takes to compete for the College in any of the titles below, head to the E-Sports arena on the following days:

Reminder from Res Life: Work with your roommate(s) to finish your Roommate/Apartment Agreement and turn it in to your RA by tomorrow, September 11. If you need help, don’t hesitate to reach out to your RA.

Keep your space safe: Now that you’re settled in, be sure to double-check that you don’t have any prohibited items in your dorm or apartment. Fire, Health, and Safety Checks will be performed September 18 through 22 (that’s next week!), so don’t wait to check! Learn more about prohibited items in the Residence Halls here. Come to one of the Sanctuary’s Happiness groups to boost your skills and meet some good people! “Happiness 101” meets Tuesdays at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary basement. Get to know our neighborhood at Meet, Munch, & More! The Midtown Pine Hills Committee is bringing MMM back on Sunday, September 17 with a pop-up barbeque. For years, MMM has brought college students and other neighbors in Midtown Pine Hills (that’s where we are!) together to meet, share food and fun, and learn about each other and the neighborhood. This year, the Midtown Pine Hills Committee will also be holding a Resource Fair at MMM that will feature materials and info about local resources available to help educate our neighbors. The MMM barbeque will take place from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Madison Park (at Madison Ave and Ontario Street).

Voices for Change: Friendly reminder that all new undergrad and grad students must complete the Voices for Change training, an online education program designed to empower you to make well-informed decisions about issues related to sexual harassment and misconduct, alcohol and drugs, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and other issues that you may face in college. This training MUST be completed by October 15. Check your email for the link to the training.

Identity is back 🏳️‍🌈 Saint Rose’s LGBTQIA+ club is holding an interest meeting tomorrow, and they want to see YOU there! They’ll be kicking off the semester at 6 p.m. on September 11 in SCI 369. On the agenda: brainstorming all the fun things they want to accomplish this year and playing games!

Join the Golden Vybz! Saint Rose’s African & Caribbean dance team is holding tryouts tomorrow, September 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. in Saint Joe’s Auditorium. No experience is needed! Please wear comfortable clothing (no jeans).

“I said my steppers!” The ALANA Steppers are looking for new members! Tryouts are Monday, September 11, through Wednesday, September 13, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. in EAC 110. No experience is required! Rebrand alert! The Redeemed Christian Club has officially changed its name to Brothers and Sisters in Christ (BASIC). BASIC is a well-established campus ministry that has been active at Saint Rose for more than 20 years and is found at more than 30 college campuses across the state. Their first meeting will be this Wednesday, September 13, at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Join them for a fun night of fellowship, snacks, and lawn games!

Is it you? Are you the drama? Auditions for the Musical Theatre Club’s performing section are Thursday, September 14, at 6 p.m. in the Campus Theatre. All you need to do is prepare a section of a musical theatre piece, but you’re more than welcome to perform the entire song. Get to know the Golden Notes 🎶 Our co-ed acapella group is starting the semester in perfect harmony with two exciting events this week! First up, their Fall 2023 Interest Meeting is tomorrow, September 11, at 8:30 p.m. on the Campus Green (rain location: Massry lobby). Swing by if you’re interested in auditioning for the group, or if you just want to see what the Golden Notes are all about! And on Thursday, September 14, you’re invited to the group’s Open Rehearsal at 8:30 p.m. in Massry 306. You’ll see how they run rehearsals, get to know current members, and work in-depth on the portion of the song used in auditions.

Become a Saint Rose Best Buddy: Saint Rose’s chapter of Best Buddies International will be meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. in Standish A&B on October 1, November 19, and December 3.

An important COVID-19 reminder: If you test positive for COVID with your own test, please email covidresults@strose.edu ASAP! Testing is also available in Health Services Monday through Friday.

Get support from the Albany County Crime Victim & Sexual Violence Center (CVSVC). The CVSVC supports and serves students who are victims/survivors of sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence, and other forms of interpersonal violence. Their free and comprehensive services include, but are not limited to Title IX advocacy, referral services, counseling, and criminal advocacy to crime victims. Amanda Wingle, a representative from the Center, will be available to meet with students as a confidential resource in-person (or remotely) on Mondays 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Counseling Center. Students can email Alice directly at amange.wingle@albanycountyny.gov to schedule an appointment or simply drop in. All CVSVC services are confidential, meaning their advocates won’t contact the College or law enforcement without your explicit consent.
