Do You Remember Move-In Day?

More than 800 incoming students have joined the Saint Rose community. Many of the new Saint Rose students moved in to campus on August 23, getting assistance from about 100 student volunteers, who unpacked cars and carried boxes, so families had nothing left to deal with but their emotions about their students embarking on this next step of their life journeys.

We highlighted that day with two videos – one was funny, one was sentimental – but both captured the spirit of the College. And take a look at this gallery of photos from move-in day from timesunion.com.

We hope these stories and visuals bring back good memories of your own start at Saint Rose.

New Gifts Mark Best Fundraising Effort in 15 Years

In a landmark year of donor generosity, The College of Saint Rose has received $2.5 million in recent gift commitments. The announcement was made by Saint Rose President Carolyn J. Stefanco on Monday, August 21 at an annual gathering of faculty and staff to recognize the start of the academic year. The gifts were made in the 2017 fiscal year, which also marked the largest annual fundraising total in 15 years at $7.38 million.

“The College of Saint Rose has always been a giving community. These gift commitments will allow the College to further support what we do best: student learning,” Stefanco said. “College affordability is a challenging issue facing higher education. The majority of these recent gifts fund scholarship programs, opening up access to education for all. We are very grateful that our community supports our students with such generosity.”

An anonymous gift of $2 million will support a scholarship for students majoring in education.

A Look at Your Saint Rose Summer

We asked our Facebook community to show us their favorite summer photos so far, especially if they were enjoying the warm weather in Saint Rose gear. Here are a few of the shots, including one from an incoming student to our music program. Our favorite submission wins a Saint Rose T-shirt.

In the spirit of homecoming, look for us on Facebook and share your favorite photos from your time at Saint Rose. If Facebook is not your favorite social media platform, you can also tweet us or post on Instagram using the hashtag #strosepics.

Mining the Digital Archives

We had a lot of fun looking through the College’s digital archives. We are sure you will enjoy this slideshow using just some of the photos we found. We are not so sure that the photo of the “friendly shuffleboard dispute,” as it was labeled in the archives, was really much of a dispute.

Look on our Facebook page on Thursdays for more alumni posts and throwback photos.
