Each year, A Community of Excellence draws a crowd of about 400 who gather in support of Saint Rose and to recognize those who are dedicated to doing good work in the community. This year, on June 15, three people were honored: Elaine Houston H’04 and reporter and anchor at WNYT Channel 13 (NBC affiliate), Sharon Casey Duker G’15 and President/Co-owner of Westco Inc., and Robert Curley, Chairman of the New York Region of Berkshire Bank.

The luncheon, the largest fundraising event of the year for the College, directly benefits our Saint Rose students. Honorees were introduced by current students, who shared their own stories.

In a video introduced at the event by President Carolyn J. Stefanco, the College showcased recent alumni, including those who were so touched by their experience at Saint Rose that they continue to give back. If you are moved to give too, you can find out more here.

“Design@Work: The Karene Faul Alumni Invitational Exhibition,” opened this month at the Esther Massry Gallery. It will run through July 29, and will return once more in September. The exhibit features printed media, web, and video works by 14 outstanding alumni of the College’s renowned graphic design program.

 Featured in the show are: Scott Bartley ’92, Brian Billow ’91, Robert Comire ’06, Dyanna Csaposs ’01, Janna Czepiel ’15, Whitney Dobladello ’15, Phil Giarrusso ’13, Alicia Hallett-Chan ’06, Kelly Holohan, ’89, Emily Jahn ’11, Tim Nerney ’95, Ron Pucherelli ’98, Melina Smyres ’01, and Michael Vamosy, ’93.

The College of Saint Rose now offers a graduate degree in Business Analytics that will equip students with one of the most difficult-to-find and sought-after skills in the job market today. The new degree, which launches this fall, has already made news in the Times Union and the Albany Business Review.

The master’s degree program will teach students to analyze data and then use it to shape decision-making in the business world. A 2017 Computer World survey ranked business analytics No. 2 for the most difficult skill for managers to find, and estimates salaries beginning at $87,000.

The program can be completed in as little as 12 months. Core components include theory, mathematics, and computer science. Those who come into the program without a computer science background will get the foundation they need. Business analytics students also choose from two concentrations: marketing or management. Required internships will put the program into practice while potentially opening doors to employment.
