This is the second-to-last In the Know of the 2022-23 school year, Golden Knights … seriously, what are you going to do without your favorite Sunday night email for the whole summer??

You don’t have to think about that until next Sunday though, because we’ve still got an incredible week ahead of us before finals start and the semester comes to an end. Read all about it in this week’s In the Know!

P.S. Do you have any announcements or events to share with other students? Get the word out! Email your In the Know submissions to Sarah at heikkins@strose.edu by 5 p.m. Thursdays to be featured in the next edition.

🎓TWO WEEKS TILL GRADUATION🎓 You can find all the information you need about Saint Rose’s May 14 commencement ceremony on the commencement website. Congratulations to all of our undergraduate and graduate students who will be walking across the stage at the MVP Arena!

It’s Stress Free Week! We know the end of the semester can be super stressful, which is why the Counseling Center planned a week full of events to help you relax. Yes, the therapy dogs are coming back 🐶 Head to the calendar section for the full schedule.

Looking for new study strategies? We’ve got you. Before finals start this week, check out our top five ways to get ready for them on the Saint Rose Blog.

Speaking of finals … they start this Friday, May 6, and end next Wednesday, May 11. If you haven’t checked when your finals are scheduled, this is your reminder to do so ASAP! You can find the schedule here.

Don’t forget to mask up! In light of rising COVID-19 rates in the region, the College is strongly encouraging all students and employees to return to masking inside College buildings. Let’s do our part to protect each other and the dear neighbor.

Tulip Festival is coming! For those of you who don’t know Albany well, you probably don’t know how much we care about tulips. So much so that we have a giant festival for them in Washington Park every year, which at last is back from its pandemic hiatus. It’s May 7 and 8, and its jammed with food, music, and entertainment, and there’s no entry fee. Also, the stars of the whole show are the tulips themselves, which will be blooming all over the park (highly Instagram-able). Washington Park is a short walk from campus, so be sure to check it out.

The Chronicle is hiring: It’s that time of the year again! Saint Rose’s very own student-run newspaper is looking to add two new members to their team. If you’re interested in journalism, writing, or management, consider applying! Right now, they’re looking for an Opinions Editor and a Business Manager. Both positions are paid! Contact Ameara Ditsche at ditschea437@strose.edu to apply.

Health Services is offering free DMV eye exams! Is your New York State Driver’s License Expiring in the next year and you need an eye exam to be able to renew online? Health Services can do your NYS DMV Eye Exam for FREE! Appointments are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 518.454.5244 or email healthservices@strose.edu to make an appointment before the end of the semester.

Bye, cable TV 👋 After surveying students, faculty, and various departments on campus, the College has decided to eliminate cable TV on campus after the end of this semester.

Get to know SEFCU! You’ve probably already seen the fancy new SEFCU Video Teller Machine (AKA the VTM) outside Starbucks, but did you know that there are a lot of perks to opening a SEFCU account while you’re at Saint Rose? Not only can you open a free checking account, but SEFCU members get free access to over 55,000 ATMs across the country without paying any annoying ATM fees. Representatives from SEFCU will be in the EAC this Wednesday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to noon, so you can learn more about the benefits of opening an account in person. They’ll also be raffling off a $50 Mastercard gift card!

Help our dear neighbors: Now through the end of the semester, you’ll be able to make a difference by donating funds directly to the GK Shop and Food Pantry and the Annie Sheeley Emergency Meal Swipes programs! To give, all you need to do is “purchase” a ticket in Lally Café, Camelot, or the Main Dining Room. Donations of $1, $5, $10, and $20 will be accepted. You can pay using Dining Dollars, cash, or your debit or credit card.

Help us improve our print and mailing services: In preparation to better serve you, students are asked to take a moment to complete a survey to evaluate the Print and Mail services offered to our campus community. Take the survey here.

Welcome new students this fall! Student Development is still looking for student volunteers to be Arrival Assistants next semester. As an Arrival Assistant, you’ll help welcome new students and their families to Saint Rose on move-in day – that’s August 27 (mark your calendars!). Interest forms can be picked up in the Student Development office and are due by July 1.

Help us make the 2022 commencement amazing! The College of Saint Rose 2022 commencement ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, at the MVP Arena and we need YOU to help make it a success.  We’re looking for students to volunteer as ushers, program distributors, and direction givers. Help us celebrate the achievements of our graduating students and guarantee yourself a great view of the ceremony. Click here to register to volunteer. Questions? Contact Becky Bonenfant at 518.485.3372 or bonenfar@strose.edu

Think you have what it takes to be a student leader? Student Development is looking to hire a group of mature and dedicated graduate and undergraduate students to help out with various leadership programs in Fall 2022. These paid opportunities include positions in the Academic Opportunity Experience (AOE), ALANA is Leadership, Commuter Assistant, and STAR Days and Orientation programs. Head to the website to apply. BTW, you’ll need to submit a resume with your application.

Just keep swimming: Sign up here for open swim for the rest of the semester!

Let’s hear it for the five Ruggiero honors scholars! This year, five outstanding Huether School of Business students were chosen by faculty for the William and Camille G. Ruggiero ’37 Endowed Honors Internship. The award will support these students financially during their internships this summer. Congrats to Ahmed Lakrafli, Jolie Poulsen, Rae-Anne Richards, Sciorra Christania Saint-Louis, and Logan Simms on this major accomplishment!

Do we have a Tulip Queen minor we don’t know about? We’re so proud of the young women who are representing Saint Rose and Albany as Albany Tulip Queen finalists. Three of the five finalists are either Saint Rose students or alums: Ashley Mayfield, a junior majoring in music industry; Meghan O’Neil, a grad student in the CSD program; and art alum Sam Mills. And shout out to Ashanti’ Bishop ’22, an education major at Saint Rose and the 2021 Albany Tulip Queen, who will be leaving her post after a year of service. The new queen will be crowned May 7 at noon as part of the Tulip Festival in Washington Park.

And shout-out to all the students recognized at yesterday’s Honors Convocation and Student Service and Appreciation Awards, too. All of your academic accomplishments and campus contributions make your Saint Rose family so proud! We’ll bring you more on all of these students in next week’s In the Know.
