Welcome from the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

The College of Saint Rose is defined by a remarkably accomplished faculty, dedicated staff and a focus on students. We offer 116 undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates to over 5,000 students. This Fall, we welcomed 900 new undergraduates to our community at the August 27th Academic Convocation. We are guided in all that we do by our Mission – particularly in our commitment to engaging “highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students in rigorous educational experiences.” We take seriously the responsibilities of community service championed by our founders, The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet.

Our students are served by 220 full time faculty. In addition, some 250 adjunct faculty bring a wealth of professional experience to the classroom, studio, lab and practice room. Without question, our faculty show a deep commitment to our students and to enhancing the teaching/learning process.

For 2011-2012, 18 new tenure track faculty joined The College of Saint Rose. I encourage you to visit “An Introduction to New Faculty” to get a sense of the quality of this group. These newest members of our community join a faculty distinguished in providing rigorous educational opportunities through teaching, student engagement, scholarship and service. As a group, our new faculty possess active research agendas and demonstrate both expertise and interest in initiatives of importance to the College including undergraduate research, e-learning, service learning and advisement. I am confident in my belief that these faculty were attracted to Saint Rose given the institution’s well known commitment to teaching as a priority.
