Instructional Designer

Jen Laubscher is our Instructional Designer in Online Learning Services. She consults with faculty to design and refine online courses, use pedagogical best practices in online courses, and supports Saint Rose faculty in designing and teaching online courses. She also serves as the OLS representative on various College committees and meetings. Jen enjoys working with her colleagues in OLS to create a positive learning experience for students through developing streamlined workflows, providing learning opportunities for faculty, and responding to ever-changing new innovations in instructional technology.

Jen earned a MS in Curriculum and Instruction, and a MS in Mental Health Counseling, both at SUNY Oswego. In 2001 she began her career as an Elementary Teacher. While teaching, she was bitten by the technology bug and left the classroom to become an Instructional Technology Specialist. She worked with K-12 faculty on designing blended learning experiences and technology integration.

In 2018, Jen moved into Higher Education as an Instructional Designer at Cornell University, on a temporary contract, and guided them through moving courses from Blackboard into Canvas. She also provided consultations to faculty on the pedagogy of teaching online. Jen has also held Instructional Designer positions at both Johns Hopkins University: Bloomberg School of Public Health, and SUNY Oswego: Extended Learning.

Fun Facts: Jen has climbed an active volcano, loves all things Italian, and enjoys travel, camping, and kayaking.

Instructional Technologist

Lita Carbone, Instructional Support Specialist in OLSLita Carbone is the Instructional Technologist with Online Learning Services. Previously Lita held the role of Instructional Support Specialist. She graduated from Hartwick College in 2012 with a B.A. in English and Theatre Arts, but her journey has taken her on a technological path! She loves teaching ages 4 to 90 how to use all sorts of technology.

At Saint Rose, Lita assists faculty and students on how to use a variety of platforms, such as Canvas, Kaltura, Watermark, VoiceThread, and more. She helps lead faculty-focused workshops, maintains the “back end” of our learning platforms, and creates training tutorials for the various platforms we use here at Saint Rose.

Fun Facts: Lita does puppeteering and video editing on the side, and teaches drama activities at Sunday school!”

Instructional Support Specialist

Rebeccah Wilson's dog holding a cokeRebeccah Wilson is the Instructional Support Specialist in Online Learning Services.

Rebeccah is the “Gatekeeper” of the OLS team! She fields questions from faculty and students on how to use a variety of platforms, such as Canvas, Kaltura, Watermark, and more. She is also the manager of OLS HelpDesk requests and assists faculty and students with solving problems using the above tools.

Rebeccah moved to Upstate New York in 2021 from Vero Beach, Florida where she spent 3 years working as an Adjunct Instructor for Indian River State College. She taught an Office Administration course, and loved every minute of it! Rebeccah’s greatest passion is helping students reach their potential and, she is excited to be able to still achieve that at The College of Saint Rose. Rebeccah is finishing her B.S. in Human Resources at Capella University and will continue on to earn an M.S. as well.

Fun Facts: Rebeccah is a military/veteran wife. Her husband served 20 years in the Navy and Army. Her son also is on active duty in the Army. Rebeccah is also a huge dog lover and enjoys woodworking in her spare time.

 

Graduate Assistant

Originating from the vibrant landscapes of India, I play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless online learning experience for all students.

Currently diving deep into the fascinating world of Computer Science, I’m on an exciting journey pursuing my Master’s degree at the College of Saint Rose. My academic roots trace back to my Bachelor’s studies in India, laying a robust foundation for my ongoing pursuits. Fueled by an unwavering passion for technology, I’m on a mission to carve my path as a future software professional, eagerly anticipating the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead after earning my Master’s degree.

But hey, there’s more to me than just code and algorithms! Beyond the books and screens, I bring a global perspective to my work, embodying the spirit of an international student. I’m not just here to learn; I’m here to contribute to the dynamic fields of Computer Science and Online Learning.

Fun Facts: Yami is from Telangana, India, has one younger brother, and has been in the US for one year. Yami also works at Sodexo on Campus and her favorite cartoon is Tom & Jerry!
