Teaching Interests

I specialize in International Relations and Comparative Politics. I am particularly interested in teaching courses on international development, global political economy, global environmental politics, U.S. Foreign Policy, and politics of the Global South. As a teacher, I find it important to introduce students to ideas developed in other parts of the world, to help prepare them to become more global citizens; and to present the philosophical underpinnings of international thought.

Research/Creative Works

My research focuses on the interaction between unequal political-economic relations at the international level, on the one hand, and the different social forces at the domestic, regional and global levels, on the other. I am primarily concerned with the repercussions these interactions have on economic development/underdevelopment, and the impact this has on the democracy-authoritarian nexus within the Global South. I weave interdisciplinarity and philosophical elements into my research and teaching in an effort at integrating the world’s complexity to my work.
