Professional Experience
I hold a Bachelors of Music Education from Baldwin Wallace University and earned my Master in Music and Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education degrees at the University of Mississippi.
Before seeking full-time graduate work, I was a successful elementary music teacher in an accredited Independent School in Hockessin, Delaware. Over my five-year tenure, I taught courses in general and vocal music to students in grades Pre-K through Eighth, directed two choirs, and served as technical and assistant director for many theatrical productions. During my graduate career at the University of Mississippi, she served as the music teacher for the on-campus preschool for ages three to five. As an elementary music specialist, I have completed my training in the Orff-Schulwerk approach and holds a level II certificate in the Kodály pedagogy.
I continue to teach early childhood music classes and engage with my music education colleagues at all levels. I am member of the Berkshire-Hudson Valley Orff-Schulwerk chapter and have recently served on the Albany City School District Music Task Force.

Research/Creative Works
My research interests link to the courses that I teach as well as an historical slant that provides perspective on how music education has developed in the United States. My research interest focuses on music development and education in preschool, elementary school music and teacher education, classroom teachers integrating music in elementary school, and early female music educators (1800-1950s).
