Message from the President
Welcome to The College of Saint Rose!
Great teaching by a respected and talented faculty characterizes a Saint Rose education. Curricula in our academic programs go beyond essential content knowledge, to include original research, rigorous critical thinking and the consideration of the ethical implications inherent in work, decision-making and scholarship.
The accomplishments of our graduates are a testimonial to the powerful academics at Saint Rose that have produced life changing outcomes for many of our students.
The College is in an historic time of transformation. The Massry Center for the Arts is bustling with activity and has transformed our campus and our neighborhood. This building is simply breathtaking in its architecture and inspiring in the way that it brings together the visual and performance arts in the heart of our campus.
With the opening of the new Massry Center for the Arts, the former music building has been reconfigured into a new Center for Communications and Interactive Media. This new center houses the communications and music industry programs and has been designed to foster collaboration and synergistic teaching among a number of academic disciplines including communications, music industry, English, business administration and foreign languages.
We are very excited that after a thirty year search for land for our field sports, we dedicated the new Christian Plumeri Sports Complex on September 25, 2010. This new complex is the home of the outstanding Golden Knights baseball, softball and soccer teams and several of the College’s recreational and intramural sports programs.
Our new residence hall, named Centennial Hall to honor the College’s 2020 centennial, will house up to 224 juniors and seniors in two- and four-person furnished apartments, each with full living and dining rooms and kitchens. This new three-story student residence is targeted for completion in summer 2012.
The new Huether School of Business at 994 Madison Avenue, in the heart of our beautiful campus, will foster interdisciplinary course work and resource sharing across schools and academic programs and serve as a hub for management training courses at the College. The facility promises to dramatically enhance the academic experience of students and faculty alike, providing the latest technology, additional classrooms, seminar rooms and dedicated spaces for internship coordination, entrepreneurship and leadership programming.
One of our goals at Saint Rose is to provide transformational experiences for our students; opportunities for powerful thinking that encourage them to engage in intellectual inquiry, gain a broader perspective, think critically, and grow in awareness of the issues facing our community and our world. Every school in the College supports some form of educational and service outreach connected to the life of the city – and other cities in the region.
Whether it be through powerful academics and a strong curriculum; investing in our campus and our neighborhood, or transforming the lives of our students, Saint Rose is constantly striving towards excellence in everything we do. We invite you to come visit us and experience Saint Rose for yourself.
