Professor Ben Clansy has taught at The College of Saint Rose since 1993. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder. His areas of specialization are International Relations, Comparative Politics and Political Philosophy. He is particularly interested in comparative foreign policy analysis, international political economy, political and economic development in the Global South, sustainable development, and Black Political Thought.

Dr. Clansy has presented numerous lectures and has been interviewed several times on local television and in local and regional newspapers on a variety of public affairs issues; he has also been a facilitator on numerous panels throughout the Capital Region, the Northeast and nationally. Currently Dr. Clansy is doing research on the role of African-Americans as Cabinet members on the federal level. He has received numerous awards, including back-to-back (1997 - 1999) the Distinguished Teaching in Political Science by the American Political Science Association and Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honors Society; The College of Saint Rose Student Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Member 1998 & 1999, one of only two College of Saint Rose faculty members to have received the award two years in a row. He has also been awarded the Hudson-Mohawk Association's award on diversity, is the first recipient of The College of Saint Rose Committee on Multicultural Affairs, and is also a member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society in education.

Professor Clansy is member of both national and state Political Science Associations. He served for five years as the international relations section head of the New York State Political Science Association and also was a member of the executive board of the association. He has served on numerous campus wide committees, including Graduate Academic Committee and the College Strategic Plan. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is an avid student of motion pictures and architecture.
