Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon (a small lumber/fishing community on the Southern Oregon coast).
What is your educational background? 
I studied German and Philosophy at Linfield College (McMinnville, Oregon), and received a PhD in German Studies from Ohio State University in 1997.
What was your favorite class in college?
My favorite class in college was an Introduction to Medieval Philosophy. (I've forgotten most of what we read, but I remember loving it; three other students and I sat in the professor's office, and discussed Saint Augustine, Ibn Rushd (Averroes), and William of Occam, among others). A close second would have to be a grad class I took on German intellectual history, followed by a great ethics course on God and doubt.
What job would you have if you were not in higher education?
Ever since I was young, I dreamed of working for the Post Office (as a letter carrier). For a while, I also wanted to illustrate comic books.
What hobbies do you enjoy?
I love to bike, I'm learning to play a musical instrument, and reading is a necessary part of every morning.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Convincing my (now) wife to continue seeing me after our first date.
What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island?
A roomy and comfortable tent (including all the amenities of home), a well-stocked liquor cabinet, and a copy of Moby Dick. If I could have four, I'd also like my clarinet and a supply of reeds. ;-)

Where did you grow up?  
York, Maine
What is your educational background?  
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Quinnipiac University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore.
What was your favorite class in college?  
It was a class called Advertising Competition. Our class participated in a regional competition against other area colleges/universities. We were tasked with developing a comprehensive advertising campaign for Hallmark. At the end of the semester, we presented our campaign to a panel of judges. Even though we placed in second and were not able to proceed to Nationals, it was still a great experience.
What job would you have if you were not in higher education? 
I would either be a Guidance Counselor or work in Human Resources.
What hobbies do you enjoy?  
Swimming, hiking, reading and spending time with family.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Having my two kids…Will and Natalie (which is closely followed by somehow getting to work on time each day after dropping them off at daycare).
What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island? 
My family (I’m sure that doesn’t count but I don’t see any rules), Breyer’s Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and a boat to get off the island.

Where did you grow up? 
Westhampton Beach, NY (Long Islander)
What is your educational background? 
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from The College of Saint Rose and Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Columbia Greene Community College, Hudson, NY
What was your favorite class in college? 
Hands down, Badminton was most enjoyable (my competitive nature veered strong!) and second place would go to Fencing, oddly I found it very addicting to pose the needed stance, wear a helmet and wave a sword around (although I am sure the sight was quite humorous).
What hobbies do you enjoy? 
Reading, beading jewelry, baking cookies, painting nails...
What is your biggest accomplishment? 
First biggest would be obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree, and second would be making a long road trip alone and not getting lost!
What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island? 
hmm… 1.) a protective bubble (to deter bugs or animals), 2.) my soft fluffy blanket, and 3.) a camera/video camera to capture all of my events and to take some pretty nature pictures along the way… :)

Syracuse, NY (Liverpool to be exact!)
What is your educational background?  
BS Environmental Forest Biology from SUNY ESF (College of Environmental Science and Forestry), Currently a Graduate Student at Saint Rose for College Mental Health Counseling (MS)
What was your favorite class in college? 
Statistics, Herpetology (the study of amphibians and reptiles!)
What hobbies do you enjoy? 
Running, reading, singing... and painting my nails a new color anytime they get chipped!
What is your biggest accomplishment? 
Being the first person in my family to graduate from college, and being accepted everywhere I applied for graduate school!
What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island? 
Tea, my cats, and a good book! :) (and probably some nail polish!)
