Wendella Wilson, a biology major, and Victoria Olanipekun, a public health major, will graduate this month having left behind an important legacy at Saint Rose: a dance team that reflects their Caribbean and African roots.
The two students, whose families hail from different parts of the world, grew up with traditional African-Caribbean dances since the time they were very young. When they came to Saint Rose, they wanted to connect with other students through that important part of their culture, so they founded Golden Vybz, an African-Caribbean dance team. The team provides both a place for students to connect as well as cultural awareness through dance and music.
