President Stefanco Offers Tips for First-Generation Students in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education
President Carolyn J. Stefanco’s open letter to first-generation college students, titled “Six Lessons to Succeed as a First-Generation College Student,” was published online on November 14 in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, which provides news, information, and commentary on a range of issues focused around diversity in higher education.
The piece noted some of Stefanco’s own experiences as a first-generation college student and provided students with both advice and encouragement as they follow the same path. President Stefanco also shared these tips with our first-generation, first-year students at Saint Rose, and she made clear in her message to them that she is rooting for their success.
