Effective July 1, 2015, the IRB requires all researchers to complete the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Extramural Research Web-based training course “Protecting Human Research Participants” prior to submitting your protocol. This training is free and simply requires the creation of a username and password to access the online system. The course should take approximately 1-3 hours to complete. Upon completion of the training, researchers can download a dated certificate as a record of participation. The IRB will require submission of a copy of this certificate with any IRB protocol. The training will be valid for two years after the date on the certificate.
