After being paused for two years due to COVID-19, the 11th annual “Moving Message Awareness and Fundraising Walk” is set to return at The College of Saint Rose on the Campus Green. The one-mile walk around the Campus Green will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 10. There will be music, food, raffle prizes, artists, a group yoga session, and vendors.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at this link. General admissions tickets are $20, and student tickets are $10. Children 5 and under are free.

The walk strives to bring awareness and raise money for individuals who may have a need for speech language therapy and supportive adaptive equipment. Short-term services such as therapy may be covered by insurance, but insurance is often not sufficient to cover the long-term cost of care that survivors will need. All proceeds from this event will go to the Moving Message Fund.

“Many participants in our program work extremely hard to put on this event,” says Julie Hart, director of TBI Medicaid waiver services at Saint Rose.“They are involved in writing their bios to be posted around the Campus Green, developing speeches to be shared at the event, soliciting for raffle prizes, writing to potential sponsors, finding vendors and artists to set up a booth, and setting up their own booth to sell their art/craft, to name a few. These projects are meaningful to the individual as they choose to work on them to improve some aspect of their communication, confidence, and identity”

The Moving Message Fund is open for donations year-round, and donations can be made here.

Checks can also be written out to The College of Saint Rose with “Moving Message” in the memo line. Send checks  to Julie Hart, 432 Western Avenue, Lally School of Education, Box 15, The College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY 12203.
