The COVID-19 pandemic has made a significant impact on the way we live and learn. It’s also, in the view of one school psychology professor at Saint Rose, highlighted the need to address mental health.

“Taking care of our students, ourselves, and each other in the mental health pandemic” is the topic of the Michael and Margaret Picotte Presidential Lecture in Higher Education Innovation and Leadership, which will be held on Monday, February 28, at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

The lecture will be presented by Dr. Steven Hoff, a licensed psychologist and associate professor of school psychology at Saint Rose, who will discuss factors impacting the college experience from a mental health standpoint and propose ways that colleges can respond. He will also offer practical coping strategies and practices for students and staff.

While the focus audience is those at colleges and universities, P-12 educators and other professionals should find important tips for supporting their own mental health and those around them.

The lectureship was established with an endowed gift by Michael and Margaret Picotte. The annual speaker series brings education leaders, business experts, and researchers and practitioners to Saint Rose to share innovations and best practices.
