Anne Lin ‘20, graphic design, credits her program for preparing her for a career in the real world. While at Saint Rose, Lin developed skills she knew potential employers were searching for in a candidate. Today, she works at Vibrant Brands in New York City, putting her skills to work.

We recently caught up with Lin to ask more about her experience at Saint Rose and future plans. Here is what she had to say:

What did you like best about your program?
It focused on a variety of different skills and real-life applications.

List any clubs/organizations you joined while at Saint Rose:

  • The National Society for Leadership and Success
  • AIGA

What have you learned through the pandemic?
I am in desperate need of a hobby.

What is the best class you took at Saint Rose and why?
In Sequential Design, I was introduced to animation and really changed my whole career path. As I started becoming more skilled in animation, I realized how many potential employers were interested in this area, and it helped me stand out when job hunting.

How did your program prepare you for your career?
They offered very intricate portfolio/resume classes that helped us stand out while job hunting. It offered a lot of real-life advice and connections before going into the field.

Who was your best professor, and why?
I would actually like to thank our shuttle driver, Clyde. Often I would leave the art building late around midnight, and it was scary walking the streets of downtown Albany at that time. Clyde made sure to always send me directly to my car. He even took the time to wait until I got into my car before he drove off. Because of COVID-19, I didn’t get a chance to thank him for going above and beyond to make me feel safe and protected during my time at Saint Rose.

Do you have any advice for incoming students?
Life will work itself out, so relax, and enjoy your time in college.
