Financial Aid King - Presented by The College of Saint Rose

The College of Saint Rose has been recognized in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) 2020 Circle of Excellence Awards. Winners of the international competition were announced on June 10.

Saint Rose was recognized with a bronze award in the Marketing/Branding/Department or Unit category for its Financial Aid King content marketing program, which provides entertaining but informative resources about financial aid and paying for college and features Steve Dwire, assistant vice president for financial aid. The campaign, which includes a microsite, videos, downloadable guides, weekly emails to school counselors, digital ads, posters and giveaways, and social media, was produced entirely by the College’s Office of Marketing and Communications.

The judges said of the College’s entry: “We liked the idea of offering fun yet authoritative content on a subject that can make people nervous and confused. The execution was just funny enough (videos), and just serious enough (fact sheets) to pull it off. Crucially, Saint Rose keeps a very low profile in this content, which shows discipline. We can see it getting their name out there over time. It made us want to know more about the college.”

In 2020, CASE received 2,752 entries from 28 countries, up from 20 the year before. Those entries came from 587 institutions for consideration in 100 categories that were judged by 416 volunteers who selected more than 400 entries for recognition.

“These awards demonstrate our members’ success in advancing their institutions through their remarkable and varied work across all advancement disciplines,” says Sue Cunningham, CASE President & CEO. “The CASE Circle of Excellence Awards demonstrate creativity and strategy. They are a great source of inspiration and ideas for your own institutions. Congratulations to all the Circle of Excellence award recipients. Not only are you being celebrated for excellence, your work engages important communities in the life of your campuses and institutions, advancing education to transform lives and society.”

The Office of Marketing and Communications won a bronze award in the Circle of Excellence Awards in 2018 for its open house video. The staff has also placed multiple times in the CASE District II awards, most recently with seven awards in the 2020 competition. See the College’s history of CASE awards here.
