Hai Ling, Mastercard executive and Saint Rose alum

An armchair conversation between Saint Rose Trustee Hai Ling ’93, who is co-president of Asia Pacific at Mastercard, and The College of Saint Rose President Carolyn J. Stefanco will serve as the 2019 Peter M. Tully Lecture on October 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Ling’s role reflects the growing importance of Asia Pacific and Mastercard’s more-focused approach to the region’s two biggest markets, China and India. Prior to assuming this role, Ling served as group executive of enterprise development, international markets for Mastercard. He joined Mastercard in 2010 as division president of greater China and has over 22 years of industry experience, including in financial services and consulting, across a number of markets. Ling received a B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Rose in 1993.

“China is my birthplace, but the U.S. is now my home country,” Ling has said. “I am glad that I am able to contribute to the success of a U.S. company while doing so in China, I owe my success to the fairness and openness of the U.S. … but my journey really started with The College of Saint Rose.”

“Hai Ling is a wonderful example of how the reach of The College of Saint Rose spans the globe,” Stefanco said. “I am thrilled to welcome him back to campus. As a global business leader, he will undoubtedly inspire our students in their own career plans.”

The event will take place in the Touhey Forum, Thelma P. Lally School of Education, 1009 Madison Avenue, Albany. The Tully Lecture is free and open to the public. Register at https://2019tully.eventbrite.com or via email at specialevents@strose.edu.

The College’s Huether School of Business has sponsored this lecture series since 1989. In 1998, it was named for Peter M. Tully, former senior vice president of municipal finance for First Albany Corp. and an authority on tax-exempt bonds. He was the husband of the late Anne Tully, who was assistant vice president for graduate admissions at Saint Rose. First Albany Corp. established an endowed memorial fund after Peter Tully’s death in December 1997 to provide scholarships for prospective students desiring to pursue a master’s degree in business administration. After Anne’s death in October 2004, the scholarship was renamed the Peter and Anne Tully Endowed MBA Scholarship to honor her dedication and commitment to Saint Rose.
