The College of Saint Rose, Patricia A. Fennell, a licensed clinical social worker and internationally recognized expert on chronic illness, and To Life!, a Delmar, New York-based breast cancer support organization, present “Getting Your Life Back from Cancer,” offering strategies and solutions for cancer survivors who want to live fully during and beyond cancer treatment.

The three-part program begins Saturday April 9, from 9 a.m. until noon in the Thelma P. Lally School of Education, 1009 Madison Ave., Albany, New York.

Following months or more of treatment, cancer patients often feel adrift in lives that are no longer familiar and may be dramatically changed. Fennell, a highly published researcher, author and practitioner, will apply the evidence-based Fennell Four Phase Model for dealing with chronic illness to the “new normal” facing most cancer patients and survivors.  Offered in collaboration with To Life!, participants are invited to attend one or more sessions and contribute to ongoing research into chronic illness being conducted by Saint Rose and Fennell’s Albany Health Management Associates Inc. Attendees will be asked to complete questionnaires over the course of the training so that the effectiveness of the program can be examined.

“Getting Your Life Back from Cancer” is free and open to any cancer patients and survivors throughout the Capital Region.  Additional sessions will be Tuesday evenings April 19 and May 10.

Pre-registration is required online at www.tolife.org or by phoning To Life! at 518-439-5975.
