Journalism students produce breaking and spot news stories, as well as feature and investigative work. Dr. Cailin Brown is the Advisor to The Chronicle 

Dr. Brown also oversees the Pine Hills Blog where students publish community journalism stories for the Albany Times Union related to the Pine Hills Neighborhood in Albany, N.Y.

COM Alumni Notable

Tom Caprood who was hired as a fulltime reporter at the The Record in Troy after an internship there graduated in 2007. In early 2010 he was promoted to the paper's digital specialist, a position created to help move the paper into the 21st century and keep up with the digital-first goals of The Record's owner, Journal Register Company (JRC). In this new role, Tom manages the company's website, online videos, social media accounts, photo slide shows, interactive projects and more. Tom is a select member of JRC's ideaLab and works to develop new strategies on using emerging communications technology to advance the firm.
