The Writing Center welcomes all student writers, from first-year students to those in graduate programs, from students who find writing challenging to experienced writers looking to be even more effective.

spring Hours

The Writing Center will be open for in-person and online appointments during the Spring Semester.  Tutoring starts on Monday, January 22.  See details below about how to schedule an appointment.

About Us

Every writer can benefit from feedback and individual attention. Tutors are trained to support both native speakers of English and English Language Learners to develop and enhance writing skills. Tutors are trained to work with large-scale Graduate-level projects. Additionally, Graduate students can request to work with the Director or Professional Tutor. During 60-minute tutoring sessions, trained tutors assist students with any stage of the writing process: selecting a topic, brainstorming, outlining, drafting, organization, research, documentation (MLA, APA, CMS), and revision.

To ensure that we can give students uninterrupted, one-on-one time with a tutor, appointments are required. We offer in-person appointments on the second floor of Saint Joseph’s Hall and online appointments using Zoom.

scheduling an appointment

Please use your Navigate app to schedule a writing appointment.

Please note that all appointments scheduled for Sundays will be held online.

How to Make a Writing Center Appointment:

Under ‘What type of appointment would you like to schedule?’ select ‘Academic Support.’ Then, under ‘Service’ scroll through the drop-down list to find ‘Writing Tutoring’ and select what you would like to receive help with (course paper, application/personal statement, etc.) and choose your preferred date and time. Under ‘How would you like to meet?’ select ‘In Person’ to have an appointment with us in the Academic Success Center or select ‘Virtual’ to have an online appointment via Zoom. Be sure to leave your reminders on so that you receive text and email reminders about your appointment, and then select ‘Schedule.’ Once you have made the appointment, you will get a confirmation email. Please read this thoroughly and follow all instructions.

Writing Lab:

During Writing Lab, students work in the Academic Success Center on writing assignments for any subject. Unlike a Writing Center appointment, which is uninterrupted one-on-one time with a tutor, students in Writing Lab determine how much interaction and consultation they would like.

You do not need to sign up for Friday Writing Lab; simply come to the Academic Success Center on the 2nd floor of Saint Joseph Hall between 10:00-12:00.
