On August 19th we will be hosting our Veteran Student Open House for all veterans, servicemembers and dependents interested in learning more about the educational opportunities Saint Rose has to offer. The event will be lead by COL. Martin “Marty” Dinan who is the Director of Veteran Enrollment at The College of Saint Rose.

Event Details

  • Date: August 19th
  • Location: Saint Rose Veteran Center (Casey Hall)
  • Times: 11:30am – 1:30pm or 3:30pm – 5:30pm (select the session that works best for you).
  • About: Casual gathering with free pizza, the chance to discuss educational opportunities, and learn why Saint Rose is a college where “Military Friendly” is more than just a slogan.

About Marty Dinan: Marty served in the active US and the New York Army National Guard for 30 years. He is a 1986 graduate from The College of Saint Rose and a 2011 graduate from the United States Army, Army War College, where he earned a MS in Strategic Studies. Marty has served in positions ranging from a Private in the Army National Guard up to his last assignment as the Commander of the 53rd Digital Liaison Detachment, located in Manhattan, NY. He has had three combat deployments, Kuwait 1991, Iraq in 2004-05, and Afghanistan in 2012. His military awards include the Combat Action Badge, parachutist badge, The Legion of Merit, The Bronze Star, 2nd award, the Valorous Unit citation, Presidential Unit citation and several others. He is married and has two adult sons.

  • On campus Veteran Center (about 1,300 square foot building) for student veterans, dependents and family members to assist with college transition.20160407_120811
  • Post 9/11 GI Bill Benefit (100% Yellow Ribbon Program).
    • A veteran/dependent who is 100% eligible under the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) will attend tuition and fee free, plus housing and book allowance.
  • Designated Military Friendly School for over 5 years.

  • Saint Rose accepts up to 15 transfer credits for military training, which includes PE credit from basic training.
    • Transfer up to 70 credits of previous coursework from 2 yr colleges.
    • Transfer up to 90 credits of previous coursework from 4 yr colleges.
  • Twelve VA work study positions available for student Veterans.

  • Centrally located just minutes from the Stratton VA Medical Center (approx. 10 minutes driving distance).

  • Dedicated VSO (Veteran Service Officer) to assist in all veteran related issues.
