What is ALANA is Leadership?

ALANA is Leadership Peer Mentoring Program is a one-year program experience where we pair first-year students with upperclassmen mentors to ease their transition into the College. ALANA stands for African, Latin, Asian, & Native American students. We welcome students of color and students who do not identify as ALANA but are interested in an intercultural, cross-racial experience that builds leadership competencies.

ALANA is Leadership kicks off with a four day program that takes place before the start of the fall semester. Students attend workshops and participate in an overnight trip to Becket, MA. During the trip, students are challenged to step out of their comfort zone by participating in physical and mental exercises individually and with a team. Team building helps build rapport of the ALANA is Leadership group and helps students get to know each other better.

ALANA is Leadership is a unique experience where students gain friendships, develop as leaders, and get more involved on campus. Beyond Pathways, students participate in leadership and professional development trainings throughout the academic year. Topics include but are not limited to: Career Development, Diversity, Handling Conflicts, Goal Setting, Time Management, and much more.
