Some answers to our most common questions regarding our STAR Days.
Is Student Transition, Advising and Registration (STAR) Day required?
Yes! In order for The College of Saint Rose to best meet your needs as an incoming student, you need to attend one STAR Day. It provides opportunities for you to meet other students, register for classes, learn about the campus and the many opportunities it has to offer, find out where to go for help, meet with faculty and staff, and have a chance to become acquainted with our campus.
How do I register?
Once you’ve made your deposit, you’re able to register online at: https://onlineforms.strose.edu/orientation. You’ll need your student ID number and the names and email addresses of any guests attending STAR Day with you.
Should I bring a family member?
We do offer specific presentations and activities for parents and guardians where they will have an opportunity to learn about their students’ academic path, meet other parents, and learn about the different opportunities and areas of assistance on campus for their student. While it is not required for parents or guardians to attend STAR, it is highly recommended.
Is there a specific STAR session I should attend?
The STAR Days are open to all first-year students with date offerings on select days throughout the summer. Please select the date that best fits your schedule. While we offer one day in late August, it is primarily reserved for international and mid-west/west coast students.
What is the schedule for the day?
Please note that STAR is a one-day program which begins with registration at 8:15am and concludes by 4:00pm. You’ll be provided a customized schedule of events when you arrive at STAR Day.
What is the attire for STAR Day?
We recommend casual and comfortable shoes and clothing. We’ll move around campus throughout the day and want you to be as comfortable as possible. While snow in the winter can be a great here in Albany, NY, you may also want to check the weather prior to attending so you can dress appropriately.
Are meals provided?
Complimentary morning refreshments/continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for students and their guests.
Do I meet with an academic counselor or faculty advisor?
Yes! During STAR you will attend an academic advising session and you’ll be provided your first semester class schedule.
If I’m flying, what airports are around and what flight times should I arrange?
The Albany International Airport (ALB) is approximately 20 minutes from The College of Saint Rose. When scheduling flights, please keep in mind your travel time to and from The College of Saint Rose and the Albany International Airport.
