M.S.Ed. Counseling
School Counselor
Schenectady City School District

Megan Jordan G'09“Throughout my time at Saint Rose, I felt as though my professors were constantly encouraging us to think critically and outside the box,” said Jordan. “I learned very quickly in this profession that there are situations that will arise in an instant that require quick thinking, professionalism, creativity and sensitivity simultaneously, and I feel as though my coursework at Saint Rose helped prepare me for these situations.”

Megan chose The College of Saint Rose because she knew the value of a professional school counseling degree and because Saint Rose offered a program that was flexible enough to meet her needs while offering hands-on training.  She is now a counselor at Schenectady High School, the same school district where she completed her second internship. She knew internship experience would be a valuable part of her Saint Rose education and credits her present position with “an equal balance of really hard work and great timing.”

Since graduation, Megan has remained in close contact with Saint Rose professors, including Dr. Claudia Lingertat-Putnam. The two have presented at workshops and conferences together.

“Dr. Lingertat-Putnam always demonstrated three very important qualities that I truly respect in a professor: content knowledge, sense of humor and the ability to relate any topic we covered to real-life significance.”
