Creative Writing
“Cutting and pasting” happens in real life in this poetry-writing class, where Prof. Daniel Nester has students revise by cutting their printouts into ribbons and rearranging the pieces. They also use oblique strategies to rethink concepts and sounds to create “word music.” The resulting poetry engages and moves – as good art should.
Cybersecurity Internship
In this cybersecurity class, you’ll hear Dr. Ian MacDonald crack a few jokes. But it’s all business when students present their work to and have discussions with cybersecurity professionals. It’s just one class in our new cybersecurity degree program, which provides students with all the skills they will need to protect against cyber threats via courses in computer science, business, psychology, criminal justice, and math.
Sports Team Marketing
Huether School of Business students in this class get to have a lot of fun while learning about the science and art of marketing a football stadium and team through a computer simulation. Then they get to talk about it with a professor who, like many of our business faculty, has done this work in the real world. Hwang served as Park Communication Centre (PCC) Manager for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Film Production
In this class, students produce a 22-minute show. Liz Richards, who served as a producer for the PBS series “American Experience,” guides students as they write and revise their scripts and then film in our TV studio or out in the field. Communications students at Saint Rose always get personal attention from faculty like Richards in our state-of-the-art Hearst Center for Communications and Interactive Media.
