Hi, Golden Knights.

As you may know, the Saint Rose family unexpectedly lost Nathaniel Hopper, a senior majoring in music and member of our student community, on Friday. In tragic moments like this, it can be difficult to find the right words that will do justice to honor the beautiful life Nate led, or bring comfort to those who are trying to process this loss. Losing anyone at any stage of their life is hard, but losing a friend and fellow student can be incredibly painful. If you knew Nate – and many of us did – we hope you’re taking time to hold space for your grief right now.

We know the end of the semester is stressful, and given our recent loss, we’re going to keep our last In the Know of the semester short. As a reminder, the spring semester ends this Wednesday, May 11.

Whether you’re finishing up your first year at Saint Rose or getting ready to graduate this Saturday, we hope you know how proud the Saint Rose faculty, staff, and administration are of everything you’ve accomplished this year. The strength, patience, and kindness you’ve shown this year has not gone unnoticed. We hope you have a safe, happy, and restful summer, Golden Knights. We can’t wait to see you again in the fall 💛

What’s New and Next

Your mental health matters. The College’s Counseling Center is always here for you when you need support, whatever that looks like. If you need help, call the Center at 518.424.5200, or email them at counseling@strose.edu. If you’re in need of immediate support outside of the College’s regular business hours, you can call our 24-7 security line at 518.454.5187 to be connected to someone immediately.

Closing reminders from Res Life: You received this information in an email a few weeks ago, but we wanted to give you a quick recap of how the end of the year works for resident students.

  • You MUST move out of your room 24 hours after your last exam, or by 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 12 (whichever comes first). Students who do not leave within this time frame will be charged a late stay fee.
  • Graduating students must be on The Office of Residence Life’s approved late stay roster and move out of their residence halls no later than 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The same applies if you’re volunteering at commencement, but you’ll need to move out of your residence hall no later than 1 p.m.
  • If you’re not coming back to campus next semester, please email reslife@strose.edu and complete a Withdrawal from Housing form.
  • Before you leave, make sure your room is clean! Here’s a quick checklist:
    • Sweep and wipe down all surfaces;
    • Clean out your desk and dresser drawers;
    • Remove all command hooks and light strips from the walls;
    • Lock all windows and close the blinds.
  • All personal items (including carpets and trash) must be removed from your room; any items left behind will not be held and will result in a cleaning fee.
  • After your room is clean and empty, return your key to the Lima Security Desk, or to the Office of Residence Life at 204 Partridge Street. The Security Desk is open 24-7; the Office of Residence Life will be open Monday, May 9, through Friday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

New location and time for the Study Break Breakfast: Out of an abundance of caution due to rising COVID-19 cases in our area, tomorrow’s breakfast-for-dinner will be held on the Campus Green from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The breakfast-for-dinner is open to all undergrad and grad students, with or without a meal plan.

Senior Week starts tomorrow: Head to the Calendar section for the full schedule of events.

Summer classes through the Academic Consortium: Saint Rose is now part of a consortium that allows students to take fully online classes from other colleges or universities that have been pre-approved. These courses will show up on the Saint Rose transcript, be part of the Saint Rose cumulative GPA, and are part of the Saint Rose bill. Students are charged Saint Rose summer tuition prices. To learn more about the program, click here.

Help us improve our print and mailing services: In preparation to better serve you, students are asked to take a moment to complete a survey to evaluate the Print and Mail services offered to our campus community. Take the survey here.
