About

The College’s new Master’s program in Higher Education Leadership and Administration is a 10-course, 30-credit graduate degree program expressly designed to enhance the leadership skills of aspiring college leaders.The focus of the program is to provide graduate-level academic courses in higher education administration to prepare students for senior-level leadership positions at colleges and universities, higher education agencies, higher education research organizations and other organizations that develop policies and offer programs in the higher education environment. The program is a 30 credit hour, 10-course program that is geared toward practitioners.

Dr. Sullivan is a professor of education in the Lally School of Education at The College of Saint Rose. He is also the director of the newly created Institute for Higher Education Leadership at The College of Saint Rose. In addition to creating and leading all Institute programs, Dr. Sullivan will teach the first seminar in the Master’s program and the capping seminar in the program, as well as other courses. He holds a Doctorate in Education from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in public policy from the Maxwell School for Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Rhode Island. He has lectured at the University of Connecticut, Harvard University, Southern Connecticut State University, Marist College and at The College of Saint Rose on subjects including leadership, public policy, higher education planning and ethics. He has also lectured at national conferences for current and future college presidents. He has served as an evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has written numerous articles on education policy and urban economic development. Dr. Sullivan recently concluded a successful sixteen year tenure as president of The College of Saint Rose.
