Master of Science in Art Education
- Certifications: This degree satisfies the academic requirement for both initial and professional certification in art education.
- Coursework: As part of the curriculum, you’ll concentrate in one of four areas (drawing/painting, sculpture, printmaking, or photography) while developing your personal approach to art education. The program culminates in a thesis exhibition of your work.
- Placements: Field placements include a semester lab teaching at a local school with no art teachers, and a student teaching experience during your last semester.
The Art Education program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
The certification-only program is designed for candidates (artists) who already hold a master’s degree in art and are seeking initial certification so they may teach art in public and private schools.
