Mac Gordon with Kathy Whatley, senior vice president at the CIC, and Prema Samhat, presidential spouse at Wofford College

Mac Gordon, husband of President Carolyn J. Stefanco, recently received an award from the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) for his three-year service on its Spouses and Partner Task Force. The task force is a group of nine spouses or partners of currently-serving presidents at CIC member institutions. The task force offers advice to the CIC about topics of interest to spouses and partners to inform CIC program planning for that audience. The group also serves as the unofficial welcome committee for other spouses and partners at the Presidents Institute, an annual conference, introducing new participants to others and including them in informal conversations. As a task force member, Gordon has been both a panelist for CIC events and a convener.

“I am grateful for Mac’s commitment to the task force over the past three years; for the important role he has played in the CIC, especially as a representative of, and role model for, male spouses and partners who are new to their roles; and for his willingness to join me as an advocate of the College at the national level,” President Stefanco said.

Gordon is a 25-year-plus veteran of the entertainment industry, serving as location manager for many hit television series, such as “The X Files,” “Monk,” “CSI Miami,” and “MacGyver,” and for films, such as “Solace” and the “Ride Along” movies with Kevin Hart. He is also a board member of the Location Managers Guild International.
