Julia Gargano

Those who know Julia Gargano, a senior from Staten Island in the College’s music industry program, know she is humble and authentic. So, the College community was excited to see her make the Top 20 of “American Idol” on the April 5 show.

After performing Pink’s “Glitter in the Air,” the judges said all she needed was a hit song to win a Grammy (we think she’s written some), and that she will go a long way – maybe all the way – in the competition.

See her performance on “American Idol” here, and check out this video of Gargano performing “Tell Me Why” with other Saint Rose students, filmed in a collaboration between Rose Record Label Group and SRTV. And if you loved her original song “Growing Pains,” which landed her on the show in the first place, you can download it on Spotify, Google Play, and Apple Music.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, “American Idol” top 20 contestants will perform from home during what would have been the live shows, still giving viewers a chance to vote for their favorites. The next episode airs April 26 at 8 p.m. on ABC, and you better believe we’re on #TeamJulia. Be sure to vote!
