As a producer for CBS News, Randy Hernandez ’07 is busy scouting local stories to air to the network’s national audience. But, even though he walks the same halls that Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather once inhabited, Hernandez never forgets his roots – Radio Saint Rose, The Chronicle, and Capital News 9 in Albany, New York.

As president of Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, Connecticut, Mary Ellen Jukoski ’73, G’79 loves engaging with all types of external and internal stakeholders.

Whether it’s meeting with college students, teaching a class to local retirees, or orchestrating outreach to area middle schools, Jukoski is happy to use her gifts as a teacher as well as an administrator.

2010s

Mengya Cao G’19 is a data analyst for Glogou Inc. in Santa Clara, California.

Patrick Fronk ’18 is working as project coordinator for Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Rensselaer, New York.

Jonathan Munroe ’16 has started working as a financial advisor with Thoroughbred Advisors in Latham, New York. He was previously a members solution specialist with SEFCU.

Sonja Stewart ’14 received an award from the Massachusetts Arc for her initiative, energy, and compassion for her work with people with disabilities at the Berkshire County Arc (BCArc). The director of family support and advocacy at the Berkshire County Arc, which serves about 1,000 individuals with disabilities, Stewart is by far the youngest person on the agency’s administration team. She directly oversees 27 nurses, case managers, and outreach workers and about $1.5 million worth of services. In addition to her regular duties, she also spends much of her own time meeting the people served by BCArc at Red Sox games, amusement parks, library readings, and other events.

Erica Buda-Doran G’11 and Joan Horgan ’79 starred in “9 to 5: The Musical” at the Schenectady Light Opera Theater in Schenectady, New York. Buda-Doran, who majored in music education at Saint Rose, currently teaches for the South Colonie School District, and was once a Buffalo Bills NFL cheerleader, was thrilled to be chosen for the part of Dora Lee, a character made famous by country singer Dolly Parton in the 1980 movie that served as the basis for the musical. Horgan, the director of spiritual life at Saint Rose, played the role of Violet (Lily Tomlin’s character in the film).

1990s

David Perry G’97 has become the superintendent of the South Colonie School District in South Colonie, New York. He was chosen from a pool of 20 strong candidates resulting from a statewide search conducted by the district’s Board of Education. He has been working in the district since 1997, when he earned his M.S.Ed. from Saint Rose and began as a math teacher. He went on to serve as associate principal of Colonie High School, principal of Lisha Kill and Sand Creek middle schools. His most recent position was assistant superintendent of schools for human resources, safe school, and information technology.

Tracy Stadel G’96 is director of human relations at Saratoga Bridges in Saratoga Springs, New York. In this role, she guides and manages human resources services, policies, and programs for the organization. She was previously senior manager, human capital, at Maximus (Albany, New York) and before that had been an HR business partner at State Farm Insurance (Malta, New York).

Joseph Donahue ’91 returned to work at WAMC-Northeast Public Radio after suffering a bilateral quadricep tear from falling down a flight of stairs while in Ireland in November 2019. After extensive surgeries and physical therapy, he is back behind the microphone hosting the award-winning “Roundtable” daily talk show and the nationally syndicated “The Book Show.” He hopes to return to teaching at the College in the fall.

Saint Rose’s own beloved Sister Sean Cathleen Peters, CSJ ’67 has become a member of the Congregational Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She will also serve as congregational director. She was warmly welcomed by the team at a ceremony on January 11, 2020, at the Carondelet Motherhouse in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sister Sean, who recently retired as director of mission experience at Saint Rose, is excited about her new role. Of her new ministry in congregational leadership, Sister Sean says, “Having the opportunity to work with a talented group of leaders and the sisters at large calls forth all my gifts. We will endeavor always to keep our mission of unifying love before our eyes and encourage all the sisters to work for unity and reconciliation among diverse groups. Such a mission certainly provides us with many opportunities and challenges! God’s faithful love impels and sustains us!”

8 Golden Knights Selected for NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams

Eight student-athletes from The College of Saint Rose have been chosen to their respective Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Teams for the 2019 fall sports season. One of the league’s most prominent awards, the honor recognizes outstanding academic and athletic performance.
 
To be eligible for an NE10 Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following requirements: started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team’s competitions as a significant contributor, must have completed at least two consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment at their current institution, and have achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point-average (on a 4.00 scale).
 
Seniors Nina Predanic, Morgan Burchhardt, and Nia Brown, and junior Marika Laurendeau of the women’s soccer team; senior Tina Ceriello of the women’s volleyball team, juniors Oskar Aaströem and Andrew Lule of the men’s soccer squad, and senior Lauren Rabideau from the women’s cross country team have been recognized.
