Michael O'Hanlon PhotoMichael is a Senior Advisor at TPG Capital, a leading global private investment firm with $55.7 billion of capital under management across a family of funds. His focus is on global financial institution and mortgage/real estate investments. Mr. O’Hanlon has served or is serving on the boards of Shenzhen Development Bank, Aozora Bank (Japan), Korea First Bank, Doral Financial Corporation and Roosevelt Mortgage Corporation, among others. He worked for Lehman Brothers from 1980 to 2005 where he headed Mortgage Finance (1988-1995), the Global Financial Institutions Group (1996-1999) and various Asian Investment Banking groups (1999-2005).

Michael was a member of the Debate Club while a student at Saint Rose and attributes this experience as a singular factor in his later success.

At Saint Rose, there was a focus on attention to detail, fundamental skills in mathematics, computers and analytics, basic accounting, and written and oral presentation skills. Two basic skills — business writing and speech/debate are extremely important — the confidence and ability to interact that comes with effective communication skills are prerequisites for strong leadership capabilities.
