Brisk and hoppy, smooth and chocolatey, and everything in between – Fort Orange Brewing is home to some of the tastiest microbrews in New York State. Spend a relaxed afternoon or evening in good company at the taproom, or pick up a home-brewed gift for a discerning beer lover.
Jim Eaton, B.A., Public Communications ‘97, co-founder and co-owner
Stop by the taproom at 450 North Pearl Street in Albany, New York, to visit the vats and check out trivia and comedy nights, concerts, and fun food trucks. The family-friendly tasting room features board games, cornhole boards, and plenty of good cheer. Select a four-pack or T-shirt for someone special, pick up some gift certificates to stuff stockings, or fill up a growler for yourself. You can also reserve a pint for a pal through the “Beer It Forward” program – your lucky recipients’ names are listed on the taproom board, and their beer is waiting for them when they arrive.
Jim’s inspiration for his business: Owning a brewery has been a dream of mine since the early 2000s. I have been brewing my own beer for over a decade, yet it wasn’t until I met my partners (Craig Johnson and John Westcott) a few years ago that this dream could become a reality.
How Saint Rose helped Jim’s career: Seeing my business blossom has been incredible. I’m proud to have founded it in the city where I received my undergraduate degree from Saint Rose.
