  1.  Online application and $40 application fee starting Nov 1st, 2018. ( Payment will be by credit card and the fee will be waived for veterans, alumni of Saint Rose, and anyone who attends an admissions event. )

The online application should be submitted with:

  • Statement of Purpose (approximately 300 words)— An effective Statement of Purpose will provide faculty reviewers with an understanding of the applicant’s objectives and motivation for pursuing a graduate degree or certificate. It will also describe how the program of study will meet the candidate’s personal goals for professional development.
  • Resume— A current resume is required for all programs.
  • Unofficial Transcripts— eg. electronic copies of official transcripts issued by institutions of higher education.
  • Certification/Licensure Documentation — eg. state licensure examination results, copies of certifications.
  • Test Scores— eg. electronic copies of GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE test results.
  • Visa Documents— eg. passports, financial verification documents.
  • Miscellaneous— eg. WES evaluations, CITE internship forms.

2. Official Transcript(s)

Official transcript(s) from all colleges attended must be sent directly to the Graduate Admissions office. A minimum of 3.0 GPA is required for admission to most programs.

3. Letters of Recommendation

2 recommendations submitted from individuals in an academic or professional setting. Recommenders can be invited to submit their recommendation letter through with our online applicationor they can submit a hardcopy letter along with a downloadable recommendation form. Letters can be submitted by your recommenders by mail, fax (518-458-5479) or email (grad@strose.edu).
*School Psychology applicants are required to submit 3 letters of recommendation*

4. Official Exam Scores (if required, see below)

a. GRE, MAT or edTPA

Applicants to our Teacher Education, Special Education, Literacy, and Educational Leadership programs are now required to submit test scores as part of the admissions process.

Applicants to the programs below will be required to submit current Graduate Record Examination (GREor Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores for the following programs:

  • Adolescence Education – Initial Licensure
  • Adolescence Education/Special Education General 7 – 12 – Initial Licensure
  • Childhood Education – Initial Licensure
  • Childhood Education/Special Education 1 – 6 – Initial Licensure
  • Early Childhood Education – Initial Licensure
  • Educational Leadership & Administration – School Building Leader
  • Educational Leadership & Administration – School District Leader

Applicants to these programs may submit edTPA results in lieu of current Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) test scores:

  • Curriculum & Instruction
  • Literacy
  • Special Education

GRE scores should be sent to The College of Saint Rose using the code 2091. MAT scores should be sent to The College of Saint Rose using the code 1432. A copy of your official edTPA score report should be submitted with your application materials.

b. Proof of English Proficiency (international applicants only)

International applicants must present evidence of proficiency in oral and written English by obtaining satisfactory scores on either the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE exam:

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language, https://www.ets.org/toefl) requirement for Saint Rose is 80 on the iBT version of the test. Applicants should request official score reports to be sent to the Graduate Admission Office. Saint Rose CEEB Code: 002091

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System, https://www.ielts.org), requirement is 6.0. Applicants should request official score reports to be sent to The College of Saint Rose, Graduate Admission Office, 432 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203.

The PTE (Pearson Test of English, http://pearsonpte.com) requirement is 56. The PTE requires that The College of Saint Rose check scores electronically. To do this, you must list The College of Saint Rose as a score recipient. Please follow the instructions here to do this.

The testing requirement is waived for applicants who have previously earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the United States.
