HOME. OF THE OF THE MOST AMAZING YEARS OF YOUR LIFE.

If we seem excited, you’re right. It’s because we can’t wait to share all the incredible things in store for you at Saint Rose.

When you enroll here, you’re investing in a lot more than classes, educators, or a degree. You’re investing in a brighter future, with one of the highest employment rates after graduation of any school around, and a uniquely supportive, ultra-connected alumni network.

And just as important, though, you’re investing in a college experience you wouldn’t trade for anything: where exceptional teachers become your mentors, helping you define, and reach, your personal goals. Where creativity and innovation have a permanent home. Where a diverse campus and community welcome you with open arms, and stay with you long after graduation. And where activity in the New York Capital Region, on the playing fields and around campus opens up a world of opportunities to be involved, engaged and—like us—excited.

“It really showed me how everyday life is for the clients I am hoping to treat in my future career.”

I studied in Madrid, Spain, at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in the spring of my junior year. I took mostly Spanish classes, but my major is communication sciences and disorders with a minor in Spanish. My improvement in Spanish was obvious, but I also believe my time abroad gave me an insight to my CSD career as well. For the first time in my life I had difficulty communicating with other people. That’s what I’ve been spending three years in my major trying to help people avoid. Yet there I was traveling around Europe totally unable to communicate with others. It really showed me how everyday life is for the clients I am hoping to treat in my future career.

I’m Head of Public Relations for Rose Record Label Group, the student-run record label. This has been such a great experience for me because I started off at Saint Rose as a Music Industry major, but soon switched to Public Relations and Advertising. I love being able to work with the music industry department again, and to get more real-world experience. I manage all aspects of public relations, including the website and social media, which is what I hope to do professionally. This class has been a great experience for me because of all the connections I have made with local media, especially with the local NPR chapter and the local PBS channel, both of whom did mini-specials focusing on the record label. The NPR interview was on the radio during Spring 2016, and the PBS special will air during Spring 2017. The NPR special was aired all throughout NYS, and was even heard by friends back in Poughkeepsie.

INTERNSHIP Patrick Flores  |  Music Industry—Class of 2016

“Now fast forward 6 months and I am a full time employee at Eventide Audio!”

I had known about them well before I had taken the internship. Eventide Audio is a very well respected company in the music community. It started when I went to AES (Audio Engineering Society) in NYC, and had the pleasure of talking with some of the lead engineers at Eventide. That sparked my interest in taking an internship there. Even when I started, I was treated more like an employee than an intern. I had actual responsibilities and they relied on me to get my assignments done. I had to test beta hardware and software which was an absolute treat for someone who loves gear as much as I do! It was such an amazing company to do an internship for because they taught me what I needed to know to be valuable. It wasn’t easy. I had to work hard to keep up with everyone and deliver on important assignments. Now fast forward 6 months and I am a full time employee at Eventide Audio!
