First-Year Foundation Experience
Rigorous, comprehensive, and professional, the goal of the Foundation Art & Design Experience is to dive into the conceptual and historical language of art, develop skills in a variety of media, and prepare for more advanced work.
Introducing you to the Center for Art & Design’s community of artists is also a vital role of the Foundation Experience. In Introduction to Art and Design, you will learn more about careers, opportunities and internships from artists, alumni, and Center for Art & Design professors, in the field of Art & Design. The group field trips in coLAB: Foundation Seminar of ART & Design to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MassMoCA) provides field work for collaboration on a semester long group project. Membership in the Saint Rose Student Art League and AIGA chapter are also available to first year students. First year students also participate in student exhibitions such as the annual Foundation Exhibition and Undergraduate Show.
