Alfredo has a doctorate from SUNY Stony Brook in Anthropological Sciences, as well as master’s degrees in U.S. Higher Education Administration from Heidelberg College, Ohio, and Cultural Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has extensive experience in all areas of international education including study abroad program development and administration, international student services, intensive English, and international student recruitment and enrollment management. He joined The College of Saint Rose as Assistant Vice President, Global Affairs for the Center for International Programs, moving from San Antonio, Texas. Varela has visited more than 40 countries, including Ghana, Bhutan and Japan, where he lived for 10 years. He met his wife in Japan and they have four daughters, and two dogs.
Stacey Kennedy has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Nyack College, and a Bachelor’s degree in web design from SUNY Delhi. During her time working at her past job she spent 11 years at she became an entrepreneur and created her own craft business in her free time. Where she teaches craft classes after work and sells her crafts online and goes to craft shows during the fall and winter months and sells her crafts. When she has free time she likes to go exploring cultural events and other towns and states nearby, going on random drives, she creates crafts related to quilling, zentangle, recycled crafts, acrylic and watercolor painting, paper beading, mixed media, drawing with graphite pencil and with color pencils, book page folding, dot art, 3d art figurines and anything else that peaks her interest. She grew up in Westchester County as a child with her parents and one younger brother. She moved around the capital district area from 2007 to 2019 and calls Cohoes, NY her home.
Assistant Director of Study Abroad
Isabel recently earned her B.S. in Business Management from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. During her junior year, she spent her spring semester studying abroad in Australia, and traveling all over Asia. Once she returned, Isabel immediately realized her passion for international education, and in helping others see the world/travel. She then began working in the study abroad office at her college, and also became an Alumni Ambassador for the American Institute for Foreign Study. These experiences helped lead her back to the Capital Region to become the new Assistant Director of Study Abroad at Saint Rose.
