Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon (a small lumber/fishing community on the Southern Oregon coast).

What is your educational background?
I studied German and Philosophy at Linfield College (McMinnville, Oregon), and received a PhD in German Studies from Ohio State University in 1997.

What was your favorite class in college?
My favorite class in college was an Introduction to Medieval Philosophy (I’ve forgotten most of what we read, but I remember loving it; three other students and I sat in the professor’s office, and discussed Saint Augustine, Ibn Rushd (Averroes), and William of Occam, among others). A close second would have to be a grad class I took on German intellectual history, followed by a great ethics course on God and doubt.

What job would you have if you were not in higher education?
Ever since I was young, I dreamed of working for the Post Office (as a letter carrier). For a while, I also wanted to illustrate comic books.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
I love to bike, I’m learning to play a musical instrument, and reading is a necessary part of every morning.

What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island?
A roomy and comfortable tent (including all the amenities of home), a well-stocked liquor cabinet, and a copy of Moby Dick. If I could have four, I’d also like my clarinet and a supply of reeds.

Where did you grow up?
York, Maine

What is your educational background?
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Quinnipiac University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore.

What was your favorite class in college?
It was a class called Advertising Competition. Our class participated in a regional competition against other area colleges/universities. We were tasked with developing a comprehensive advertising campaign for Hallmark. At the end of the semester, we presented our campaign to a panel of judges. Even though we placed in second and were not able to proceed to Nationals, it was still a great experience.

What job would you have if you were not in higher education?
I would either be a Guidance Counselor or work in Human Resources.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
Swimming, hiking, reading and spending time with family.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
Having my two kids…Will and Natalie (which is closely followed by somehow getting them on the bus on time.)

What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island?
My family (I’m sure that doesn’t count but I don’t see any rules), Breyer’s Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and a boat to get off the island.

Where did you grow up?
Athens, NY- a small town on the Hudson River located about 30 miles south of Albany in Greene County.

What is your educational background?
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania and a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Counseling and Secondary School Counseling certification from West Chester University, also in Pennsylvania.

What was your favorite class in college?
My favorite class in college was a Human Development Across the Life Span course I took in grad school. My advisor was the instructor and actually wrote the textbook for the course.

What job would you have if you were not in higher education?
If I didn’t work in the higher education field I would be a guidance counselor or an elementary school teacher.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy reading and any physical outdoor activity.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment thus far is earning my masters degree. It has enabled me to pursue a career in high education and play a positive role in the academic achievement of college students.

What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island?
Lip balm, bug spray, and a fire starter.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Queens, NY, attended High School in Poughkeepsie, NY, and finally attended college in Albany, NY.

What is your educational background?
I have a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology from the University at Albany and I have my Master’s in College Student Services Administration from The College of Saint Rose.

What was your favorite class in college?
My “favorite” class in college was Public Speaking. I put the quotation marks because I was very reluctant to take this class because I knew I would be speaking in front of a large group of people. I needed to confront my fears and be exposed to tough situations where I was uncomfortable. I still get nervous from time to time but that class constantly challenged me to overcome my fears. I learned how to control the fear and focus my brain on what the topic of discussion was.

What job would you have if you were not in higher education?
I think a career in photography would have been my second choice. I love the notion of capturing an event or a moment, on film. It literally freezes time so that you can enjoy that specific moment forever. Photography allows me to appreciate the world around me and gives me an artistic viewpoint of what I am seeing with my own eyes. Traveling the world for National Geographic and seeing everything was a big dream of mine but I never followed through.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
I like swimming, camping, golfing (still working on my game), photography, hiking and playing paintball with friends. I also enjoy going to the movies and talking about new movies coming up.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
I would say my biggest accomplishment would be completing my Master’s Program here at The College of Saint Rose. Being a first generation student, my parents did not finish college and I knew from an early age that I wanted to further my education to establish a career that I am passionate about.

What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island?
This is a tough one. Assuming my wife will be with me already, she is not included on this list. I would NEED to have:
1. Extra pair of shoes (see Cast Away with Tom Hanks)
2. My grandma’s Eggplant Parmesan
3. A hatchet

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Lynbrook, NY on Long Island.

What is your educational background?
I have a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta. I am currently working on Master’s Degree in Educational Policy and Leadership at SUNY Albany.

What was your favorite class in college?
My favorite class was a History of New York City class I took as an elective. Growing up close to the city, I thought I already knew a lot about it but it was fascinating learning about the city’s history .

What job would you have if you were not in higher education?
If I were not in Higher Education, I would be an RN (Registered Nurse) or Screenwriter or Author.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, cooking, kayaking, and the occasional binge watching of Netflix.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
As of yet, I would have to say graduating college and getting my degree. As a first generation college student, the experience was new and intimidating, however all my experiences have shaped me to be who I am today and has led me to my future career in Higher Education.

What three things would you like to have if you were stranded on a deserted island?
1. My cell phone with a mobile hotspot so I can attempt to contact someone to get me off the island
2. A friend with me so I’m not alone
3. Sunscreen because I get awful sunburns
