Course Registration Process

1. If you are a First Year or First Semester Transfer Student, attend your Pre-advising Meeting/Information Session to learn about the Registration process.

2. Schedule a meeting with your Faculty Adviser for Advisement Day. Before you meet for Advisement, create a Tentative Schedule of classes you’d like to take for the upcoming semester.

3. Attend your Advisement Day and review your Tentative Schedule with your Faculty Adviser. Obtain your Alternate Pin from your Faculty Adviser after your meeting.

4. Register during your Course Registration Time.

5. Keep your Alternate Pin in case you decide to update your schedule. You may update your schedule until the end of Add/Drop Week (the first week of classes).

For any questions please contact the Academic Advisement office at advisement@strose.edu

Pre-advisement Meetings

All incoming first year students will have a Pre-advisement Meeting with their General Academic Adviser during the first two months of their Fall and Spring semester (this may be altered slightly for School of Education students). During these individualized meetings students will be able to review their requirements for graduation and learn the tools needed to prepare for Advisement day, in order to be able to register for classes for the following semester.

Advisement Day

One day every semester is set aside for students to meet with their Faculty Advisor. Students will be assigned to an Faculty Advisor in their first semester and are required to meet with them every semester to discuss course selection for the upcoming term. All classes are cancelled on this day. Be sure to check the academic calendar  for specific dates. After reviewing your courses with your Faculty Adviser you will receive your Alternate Pin. Students who do not have their Alternate Pin will not be able to register for classes.

If you are not sure who your advisor is, you can find their name in the upper left-hand corner of your DegreeWorks Report. To find their contact information, please visit the Faculty/Staff Directory.

To make the most of your advising appointment, you will want to come prepared with a Tentative Schedule for the upcoming semester (you may want to prepare one or two alternative schedules if you find yourself closed-out of some courses). In order to create your schedule, you will want to review the Undergraduate Course Listings and your DegreeWorks Report.

To access Degreeworks, please follow the directions below.

1. Go to https://bannerweb.strose.edu
2. Click on “Login to Secure Area”
3. Type in your student ID# and your password
4. Click on “Student”
5. Click on “Student Records”
6. Click on “DegreeWorks”

When creating your schedule, please keep in mind that the best schedule is the one that is well-balanced. Major requirements should be combined with liberal education requirements and electives. Be mindful of course pre-requisites and the sequencing of program requirements.

Please view the following tools below that may help in creating your tentative schedule.

Course Registration

You will receive an email from the Registrar’s Office with the exact date and time you can begin registering. Students may register and update their schedule from the beginning of their Registration time up until the last day of add/drop week in the upcoming term. Registration times are assigned based on accumulated credits and year. Registration usually begins at least a week after Advisement Day. The email will also contain information about any hold on your account. Holds will prevent your registration. Holds will be described on the Secure Site and Navigate so they may be resolved prior to your registration. It is still strongly recommended that you meet with your advisor so that you will be prepared when you are able to register.
