The College of Saint Rose is proud to welcome new deans to the School of Arts and Humanities and Huether School of Business.

Dr. Gerald (Gerry) Lorentz, formerly faculty associate for outcomes assessment for Empire State College in Latham, New York, began his appointment as dean of the School of Arts and Humanities on July 1. From 2007-2016, Lorentz served as dean of the Northeast Center, one of Empire State College’s 13 colleges of arts and sciences, with approximately 1,500 full- and part-time students. Lorentz holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, in Early Modern British and European History, an M.A. in Early Modern British History, and a B.A. in History and Archaeology from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He also completed a graduate certificate in management from the Institute for Management and Leadership in Higher Education at Harvard University.

Dr. Rajarshi (Raj) V. Aroskar, CFA, previously chair of the department of accounting and finance at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, began his role as the dean of the Huether School of Business on August 1. At the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Aroskar managed an annual departmental budget of $1.4 million, as well as 15 staff and faculty colleagues, and 930 student majors. Aroskar holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington, an MBA in Finance, and a B.E. in Electronics Engineering from the University of Pune, India. He also holds the professional certification of a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

“We are thrilled to welcome these two new academic leaders to The College of Saint Rose,” said President Carolyn J. Stefanco. “Our College-wide search committee screened candidates from across the country and worked hard to find leaders who were committed to the success of our students and academic programs. Dr. Lorentz and Dr. Aroskar have extensive experience in developing new programs and modes of delivery, as well as with assessment and accreditation processes. They join Dr. Terri Ward, interim dean of our Thelma P. Lally School of Education, and Dr. Ian MacDonald, dean of the School of Mathematics and Sciences, who are both familiar faces at Saint Rose and have stepped up to fill leadership roles in recent years. We are excited to welcome Raj and Gerry to our Saint Rose community.”

The deans are led by Dr. Steven Ralston, provost and vice president for academic affairs, who joined Saint Rose in July 2018 after serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Morehead State University in Kentucky.
