The College of Saint Rose announced today that it has been selected to host the 2020 International Leadership Association (ILA) Women and Leadership Conference. The 5th annual conference, which will be held June 7 through 10 in 2020, will bring women and men from across the country and around the world to Saint Rose during the centennial year for the College and women’s suffrage in the United States.
Lisa Haley Thomson, chief of staff in the President’s Office at Saint Rose, and Joanne Barnes, a past chair of the ILA Women and Leadership Affinity Group and dean of the graduate school and professor of leadership studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, will serve as co-chairs of the conference.
“I am thrilled that Saint Rose will be hosting the 2020 ILA Women and Leadership Conference,” said President Carolyn J. Stefanco, who also serves on the ILA board of directors and chairs the association’s fundraising committee. “Our institutional mission of providing resources and programming to build leadership skills aligns perfectly with the goal of this conference. It is especially exciting that ILA members and partners from around the globe will have the opportunity to network, grow, and learn from one another in our new Women’s Leadership Institute, which opens this fall in the Michelle Cuozzo Borisenok ’80 House and will serve as one of the venues at the conference.”
“The ILA is excited to partner with the Women’s Leadership Institute at the College of Saint Rose to host the 5th ILA Women and Leadership Conference,” said International Leadership Association President and CEO Cynthia Cherrey. “In today’s interdependent world, we are learning more and more that multiple perspectives are required to flourish. Our global and specialized conferences create a trusted space where people can gather together to share innovative leadership ideas and work together on actionable solutions. We welcome this opportunity to continue our collective work on furthering women’s leadership in the world.”
As the largest worldwide community committed to leadership scholarship, development, and practice, the ILA’s mission is to advance leadership knowledge and practice for a better world through the synergy that occurs by bringing together members and partners. For more than 20 years, the ILA has convened extraordinary talent across sectors, cultures, disciplines, and generations to have a multiplier impact on leadership and change.
