Recently, Saint Rose President Carolyn J. Stefanco joined nearly 800 college and university presidents and chancellors in expressing the College’s support for students impacted by the decision last month to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. Spearheaded by the American Council on Education, an October 19 letter endorsed by Dr. Stefanco and the other higher education leaders was sent to leadership within the Senate and House, urging Congress to pass legislation as soon as possible to permanently protect those known as “Dreamers.”

As Dr. Stefanco shared in her September 9 address to the crowd at Reach Out Saint Rose, “Saint Rose students who are covered by DACA – known as Dreamers – are members of our community. We do not know for certain how many of our students are protected by DACA. They do not ‘check a box’ upon admission. We do know there are Dreamers who were raised and educated in the United States among us. The College of Saint Rose stands beside them and supports their desire to reach and exceed their expectations through higher education.”

The College of Saint Rose continues to reinforce values of diversity and inclusion in all that we do. Below is the letter sent to Congressional leaders and endorsed by Dr. Stefanco.
