Saint Rose, Onondaga Community College Partner To Expand Opportunities To Earn Criminal Justice Degrees
ALBANY (June 6, 2016) — A new transfer agreement between The College of Saint Rose and Onondaga Community College (OCC) in Syracuse will expand opportunities for central New York students who want to turn a two-year degree in criminal justice into a full bachelor’s degree.
The new “articulation agreement” between Saint Rose and OCC enables students who earn an associate degree in criminal justice at OCC to transfer seamlessly to the bachelor of science in criminal justice, behavior and law program at Saint Rose. The agreement spells out the specific courses that students should complete at OCC and their equivalents at Saint Rose. Graduates of the OCC criminal justice program will enter Saint Rose with junior status.
To help transfer students financially, Saint Rose offers guaranteed two-year undergraduate academic scholarships to those who have achieved superior grade-point averages for all previous college work. Scholarships range up to $14,500 per year. Transfer students who are current members of Phi Theta Kappa national honor society are eligible for an additional $1,000 each year.
Articulation agreements enable students to plan and sequence their course work at a two-year college in such a way that ensures the smooth transition into upper-level course work without loss of credit, enabling students to reach their goal of a four-year degree.
Saint Rose now has more than 100 articulation agreements with community colleges and other institutions in New York and Massachusetts in such fields as business, education, computer science, music, art and psychology. All are designed to help provide a clear path for students seeking to continue their education.
Saint Rose and OCC continue to explore opportunities for agreements between additional programs of study.
