Sidney and Beatrice Albert Interfaith Lectureship

Fr. Christopher DeGiovine, Dean of Spiritual Life
518-454-5293

The Sidney and Beatrice Albert Interfaith Lectureship Program was founded in 1991 at The College of Saint Rose to preserve and develop the qualities of compassion and religious tolerance embodied by the late Sidney Albert and his beloved wife Beatrice. The programs which brings notable speakers or panels to the Saint Rose campus each year, is designed to encourage understanding among people of different religious backgrounds and faiths.

Sidney Albert, a lifelong resident of Albany, was best known for his generosity and work on behalf of the people of the Capital Region. Over the years, Albert gave actively to all kinds of organizations and individuals, regardless of religious affiliation. As a result of his generosity and concern for the people of the Capital Region, Albert received the Endowment Achievement Award from the Council of Jewish Federations of North America in 1987 and the Humanitarian Award from the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith in 1988.

After Sidney’s death in 1990, Beatrice, his wife, in addition to many other philanthropic endeavors, continued the work of supporting and expanding interreligious tolerance and appreciation until she passed away in 2003.
